Who says you have to be an expert chef to cook? There are a number of easy recipes you can make at home without any experience or cooking knowledge. Here are 10 recipes for every occasion you can try without any hassle.
1. Coleslaw sandwich with broccoli

Sandwich bread
1 1/2 tbsp butter
1/2 cup grated broccoli and carrots
4 tbsp mayonnaise
1/2 tsp chili sauce
Salt and pepper to taste
MethodCook broccoli in 1 cup of water for 2 minutes. Mix the grated carrots, broccoli, chili sauce, mayonnaise, salt and pepper in a bowl. Spread butter on the bread (both sides). Spread the coleslaw over it. Cover the top half and crisp in a pan till crunchy. You can even put it in a grill with butter spread over both sides.
2. Potato wedges (in a toast)

1 Potato
Bread
2 tbsp Ketchup
1/2 Tomato and capsicum (chopped)
1/2 tbsp Butter
2 tbsp Oil
Mixed herbs (oregano, basil, chili flakes etc.)
Method
Wash the potato thoroughly and cut in half. Leave the skin on, cut the potato in wedge shapes. Leave them in a bowl and drizzle some oil. Sprinkle some salt and pepper in the bowl and mix everything well so that each wedge is coated with oil, salt and pepper. Place them in a microwave and bake until brown. (If you don’t have a microwave, crisp both sides in a pan with 1 tbsp of oil.)
In a small bowl, mix the ketchup, chopped veggies and herbs. Spread butter on the bottom half of the bread and the ketchup mix on the other half. Place the wedges on the bread and heat in a microwave for a minute.
3. Semolina toast

1 cup hung curd (place some curd in a cloth and leave overnight)
3 tbsp semolina
Chopped veggies (capsicum, tomatoes and onions)
Bread
2 tbsp Oil
Salt and black pepper powder
Method
Mix the chopped veggies, semolina and curd in a bowl. Add salt and black pepper powder.
Take a slice of bread and apply the mixture. In a pan, heat the oil and place the toast face down. Cook for a minute and then turn to check if its brown. Repeat the process for more toasts.
4. Mac and cheese

1 cup Macaroni
1/4 cup Butter and flour
2 cups Milk
2 cups of grated cheese
1 tomato, red capsicum and green chili (chopped)
Salt and pepper
Broccoli (Optional)
1 Clove of garlic (Crushed)
Method
Boil the macaroni in water (add a pinch of salt to the water). Add broccoli in the boiling water if you necessary.
In a pan, heat the butte and add crushed garlic and saute till light brown. Add flour and mix till it becomes a thick paste. Pour one cup milk and mix well till you get the paste again. Pour the other cup of milk and keep mixing till you get the white sauce. Turn off the heat and add the grated cheese. Mix till the cheese melts in the residual heat. Sprinkle crushed pepper.
Drain the macaroni and broccoli and add in the white sauce. Heat the Mac n Cheese for a minute and stir well so that the sauce spreads all over the macaroni. You can even spread the mixture in a tray and make a top layer of grated cheese before baking in a microwave for a minute.
5. Soya in coconut curry

1 cup Soya chunks (soak them in warm water for 10 minutes)
2 Tomatoes
1 cup Coconut milk
1/2 cup Water
Spices (chili Powder, turmeric, coriander powder)
Salt to taste
Ginger, garlic and 1 onion
1 tbsp Oil
Method
Grind chopped onion, garlic and ginger in a mixer. Heat oil in a pressure cooker, heat the mixture and saute till light brown. Add the spices and mix well. Add the chopped tomato cook for 2 minutes. Add the soya chunks and mix well with the mixture in the cooker. Add salt to taste. Pour water and the coconut milk and close the lid of the cooker. Cook for one whistle.
6. Bread – barfi pudding

Left over brafi or mithai
3 Slices of bread
1/2 liter Milk
Dry fruits (Optional)
Method
In a mixer, coarsely grind the bread slices and the left over barfi together. Don’t grind it for long as you need a coarse mixture.
Boil the milk and add the mixture. Stir for a minute and add the dry fruits.
Leave it in the fridge for six hours and serve chilled.
7. Marie biscuit chocolate pudding

1/2 cup Milk Maid
1/2 cup Fresh cream
1/2 cup Cocoa powder
1 1/4 cup Water
1 1/4 cup Sugar
1 packet of Marie biscuits
Butter (Optional)
Method
In a pan, combine butter, water, sugar and cocoa powder and mix over medium heat. Boil it for a minute till the mixture is thick. Remove from heat and keep it aside
In a small bowl, mix the cream and Milk Maid.
Take the Marie biscuit, spread the cream mixture and cover with another biscuit. Spread the next layer with chocolate sauce. Repeat the process with alternate layers of cream mix and chocolate sauce. When the biscuits are over, keep the stack of biscuits horizontally in aluminum foil and cover it with the rest of the chocolate sauce. Wrap the foil tightly and refrigerate for some time.
Remove the foil and cut the chilled stack diagonally for best results.
Tastes best with ice-cream.
