The New Motorcycles of 2016
After a long winter, the arrival of motorcycles on our roads brings the promise of summer. Several new motorcycles are expected in 2016. Here is a selection of the most anticipated new models.
Honda African Queen 1000
Inspired by the winning bike of the Dakar Rally, the African Queen arrives in North America this year. Its reasonable price, optional DCT transmission, and iconic reputation make it a highly anticipated model.
BMW R1200 RS
This is the best-selling motorcycle in the world. This year’s model features revamped wheels and new colour options.
Ducati Scrambler Sixty2
An attractive price and a small, yet responsive engine are the main ingredients of the Ducati Scrambler Sixty2. Great for beginners and experienced riders alike, the Scrambler Sixty2 is the ideal motorcycle for weekend getaways.
Honda CBR300R
The CBR300R boasts great fuel economy and exemplary handling thanks to its weight and precise steering. Like most other Honda products, the balance of the CBR300R is on par with the competition.
Harley-Davidson Softail Slim
This bike is among the least expensive of the Harley-Davidson Softail line. The S version is available for a few more bucks and comes with a stronger engine and a unique, stylish look.
Yamaha SR400
Retro is on trend these days. The suspension (adjusted for comfort), fuel-injected engine, and overall sturdiness of the SR400 all make for a machine that’s perfect for everyday use.
Kawasaki Z800
A small racing bike with impressive comfort, the Z800 is powered by a four-cylinder engine capable of 12,000 rpm, which makes for great pick-up and thrilling acceleration!
Honda VFR 1000
The VFR 1000 is similar in many ways to Honda’s African Queen—but the VFR is more of a road bike, in the purest sense of the word.
Suzuki SV650
Replacing the Gladius, the Suzuki SV650 is an entirely new model. This year, the fuel consumption is down and the engine performance is up.
Indian Scout Sixty
This bike will appeal to both novice and accomplished motorcycle aficionados. With its attractive style and efficient powertrain, this motorcycle is one of the most highly anticipated models of 2016.
Yamaha XSR900
The racer style of the XSR900 gives it a singular, understated style. Its mechanics are borrowed from the FZ-09.
Harley-Davidson LiveWire Electric Motorcycle
This racing bike can accelerate to 110 km/h in four seconds flat. This 100 percent electric motorcycle will be distributed in the United States as a very limited edition (only 30 made) to get feedback from Harley fans. It looks like black will be the only colour available (prototype shown here).
Triumph T120
Modern aesthetics and a more powerful engine (now 1,200 cc) are just some of the features of the Triumph T120.
Suzuki GSX-R1000
Attention motorcycle fans! In 2016, the red zone of the GSX starts at 14,500 rpm and both its mechanics and style have been upgraded. That said, this sixth-generation GSX-R1000 is the lightest, most powerful, and most aerodynamic yet.
Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R
This year, the Ninja gets more muscle (200 horsepower) from an engine that performs better than ever.
Kawasaki Z800
The aggressive design of the Z800 contains its power with the flexibility of its four-cylinder, 800 cc engine. ABS braking comes standard.
Ducati xDiavel S
The engine of the xDiavel S is rated at 156 horsepower. The Italian manufacturer boasts that the entire motorcycle was designed around its engine.
KTM 690 Duke
The recipe for this model is simple: lightweight, a dynamic chassis, and an engine with an irresistible purr. Power and charisma are just waiting for you!
Moto Guzzi Audace
The Audace is directly inspired by the California Custom, a highly popular Moto Guzzi model. Its 1.4-litre V-twin engine purrs as well as the rest, with traditional Italian attention to detail.
BMW G310R
The small-displacement BMW G310R is a great motorcycle for new riders. In fact, this type of model is only gaining in popularity.
