Mercedes-Benz Launches Made-in-India GLC

A few months ago, iconic German luxury car manufacturer Mercedes-Benz had launched the GLC-Class SUV in India with prices starting from INR 50.70 lakhs (ex-showroom) onwards. This vehicle was brought in to plug the rather large gap that existed between the GLA and GLE-Class SUVs. In an effort to bring the cost of purchase of the vehicle down, Mercedes-Benz India has just launched the made-in-India version of the GLC at INR 47.90 lakhs (ex-showroom). While the petrol version will be driven by a 2.0 litre, 4 cylinder motor that produces 245 bhp, the diesel variant will have a 2.1 litre, 4 cylinder diesel engine that puts out 170 bhp under its bonnet. The diesel motor also has a very beefy torque output of 400Nm. Both versions will get the 4Matic all wheel drive system and the 9G-Tronic 9 speed automatic transmission of Mercedes-Benz.

It will now cost you INR 47.90 lakhs for GLC 220d Style, INR 51.50 lakhs for the GLC 220d Sport and INR 51.90 lakhs for the GLC 300 petrol (all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi figures). Thanks to lowered prices resulting from localised manufacturing, the Mercedes-Benz GLC now has a much needed edge to hold its own in this competitive segment.
